The Non-Linear Movement Method®

What About Physical Movement

You may be thinking:
"Not in this lifetime. Not in this body. Pass me another donut."

For Gabrielle Roth, an internationally-known musician and teacher of dance and movement for wellness, the correct response to this would be: "Focus on the hole." We are missing something if we expect to change without movement.

Coming Home To The Body

Experience has taught me that a greater sense of vitality arises when we engage our bodies in the change journey. I recently trained with internationally renowned counselor and psychotherapist Michaela Boehm and Steve James to become a Certified Teacher of the Non-Linear Movement Method®, (NLMM). Why the Non-Linear Movement Method® (NLMM)

If someone asked you "What does it feel like to be alive?" how would you respond? Granted, it may not be easy to answer with words - being alive is so much more.

Our bodies are our only life-long companions. They are our storehouses of wisdom and experience.

NLMM gives us an opportunity to connect to the felt-sense of our emotions and feelings in our bodies with patience, acceptance and love. As we move in awareness we can start to regulate our nervous system with calmness and compassion.

What is NLMM?

The Non-Linear Movement Method® (NLMM) is a somatic practice that encourages you to spend time focusing your attention on the feelings and sensations in your body and restoring connection and intimacy with it through movement. Sessions are usually for one hour and guidance is given throughout while you move to music, working with different modalities to access tension, stuckness, suppressed emotions, unhelpful thought loops and identify pleasure. There is always a short time for rest and integration at the end.

Getting Started

All you need is a mat or rug to practice on and if you like a soft blanket. Wear loose, comfortable clothes. NLMM is suitable for any age, fitness level and mobility. Although usually started on hands and knees, if necessary it can be done in any position, including laying or sitting down.

With NLMM there are no forced positions or ways of being. It is just you and your body, deciding how to move.

A gentle journey of self-discovery and self-care...
